Sean and Anne took over the ownership of Bushmount Nursing home on April 1st 2009. Bushmount has been an integral part of Clonakilty for over 50 years and Sean and Anne intend to continue with that tradition.
Since taking ownership of Bushmount Sean and Anne have completed two major extensions to the nursing home, an 18 bed in 2011 and a 26 bed in 2014.
Sean and Anne are in the Nursing Home sector since 2001 when they purchased Fairfield Nursing Home in Drimoleague. Fairfield is one of only four nursing homes in Ireland with a Dementia Care Matters quality award.
Sean and Anne foster a culture and ethos encompassing a person centred approach for each resident. They strongly believe in providing a high standard of emotional care, where feelings matter most.
Audrey Smith
Director of Nursing
Audrey, who is a native of Ahiohill, has worked at Bushmount Nursing Home Ltd since 2016. Audrey trained as a nurse in Trinity College, Dublin, qualifying in 2008 and went on to gain experience in the acute setting, working in AMNCH before pursuing her passion for elderly care.
Audrey gained 6 years’ experience in a nursing home in Dublin, expanding her professional development and undertaking the European Course of Essential Palliative Care, before taking a year out to travel.
Audrey then returned to her native West Cork, taking up the position of CNM1 in Bushmount Nursing Home Ltd. Audrey has since worked her way from CNM1, to ADON to taking on the role of Director of Nursing in January 2021. Audrey’s devotion for providing the highest standard of person-centred care for our elderly population has seen her constantly evolve and expand her knowledge and skills which is reflected in her professional growth within Bushmount Nursing Home Ltd.
Rosie Melton
Assistant Director of Nursing
Rosie joined the Bushmount team as a staff nurse in 2011 and worked here for 4 years before taking a career break to complete her family. Rosie returned to us in 2020 and was promoted to Clinical Nurse Manager 2 in 2021. Rosie studied to be a nurse at the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing at Kings College London and worked on both surgical and medical wards in Lewisham hospital in London before relocating to Ireland. Rosie loves working in care of the elderly and believes that our elders provide us with fascinating insights into history and give us lessons on how to deal with adversity. Those of us who are privileged to work with the elderly are given these gifts every day by exceptional people.
Roni Enright
Administrator
Roni is a native of Clonakilty now living in Rosscarbery. Roni qualified in Computer Programming and as a Software Support Engineer. While working as a Software Support Engineer for 20 years, Roni developed a keen interest in working with people and in particular Human Resources. Roni joined the team at Bushmount in 2008. In her role, Roni maintains the effectiveness and efficiency of Support Services (HR, IT and Finance) Roni completed a Management Development Programme in 2012. Roni plays a significant role in long-term planning, including initiatives geared toward operational excellence. She is a point of contact for all families in Bushmount giving advice and guidance in relation to Fair Deal applications.
Aibhlín Barry
Resource Assistant
Aibhlín is a local girl living in Ardfield, Clonakilty. She joined the Bushmount Team in September 2020 after completing QQI Level 5 Certificate in Nursing Studies in Cork College of Commerce. While completing this course, Aibhlín’s passion for caring for the elderly grew.
In August 2021, Aibhlín took over as Resource Assistant. In this position Aibhlín works side by side with Roni, but also links the entire team in the day to day running of Bushmount.
Aibhlín grew a keen interest in this side of the Nursing Home as she loves meeting the resident’s families and interacts so well with all staff.
Deirdre Mc'Carthy
Receptionist
Deirdre grew up in Clonakilty. She studied Complementary Therapies and Sports Therapies obtaining ITEC Diplomas. She has worked in a Sports Injury Clinic in Carrigaline to gain experience.
Dierdre then spent two years in Spain and worked in a hotel/spa with training fields for football teams and worked doing therapies and treatments. She then moved to Mexico and lived there for 12 years working on Horse Ranches, training horses and giving lessons/trail rides. She also worked 5 years in a vegan restaurant as the cook.
Deirdre started working in Bushmount as receptionist in 2020. She enjoys getting to know family members and residents, She also help the chefs with menu changes and some administrative work.
